I am from the black and white coffee mug in my kitchen,
From the superhero and villain drawings on it that inspire me.
I am from the bright orange splash of paint that lights up my room,
The scent of petrichor that wakes me up.
I am from the Amaryllis plant that blooms every year,
The old hollow tree that is my ‘Terabithia.’
I am from my mom’s famous curries and flavours,
From the aroma that makes you want to forget about life for a while.
I am from the sharp tastes that could light up the gloomiest day.
I am from the pull-up bar in my house that was inspired by my dad to make me stronger.
I am from the sense of humour that I inherited from my mother,
And my love for the number three, which introduces us three brothers.
I am from the words my mom and dad say often ‘don’t worry, be happy, but study,’
And the ‘insy-winsy spider’ that they sang to me when I was little.
I am from the ‘ family-fun-night’
I am from Bayërn and the depths of Kerala, avvial and pizza.
I am from my brothers’ hidden side,
Just like the ‘dark’ side of the moon.
